Variac made by General Radio, handles 28A/coil 240 V 3 phase. Weighs close to 100 lb; on wheels; looks new. Comparable ones new through the web are more than $2,500. Id be happy with $700 OBO

Oh... I've been eyeing this for quite a while. Very Nice. May I ask what you had been using it for?

Seems a good price, but too steep for me as yet. I'll have to stick with this poor mans version for now: The SCARIAC (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P9UjxG8sN1c)

I don't mind seeing good deals on craftweb. Something is bugging me about sticking it in someone else's ad though. So I need a reality check here. Am I off base?

It's not really a product, just an explanation of how a product works...

I guess deciding if that's OK is a case by case decision...but I loved that particular link.

Nothing to buy and a lot of wild and crazy but totally practical vids on making, well, shall we say 'alternative' sorts of mechanical toys.

Check out the rest of his vids too.

One more detail on variacs.

The three phase ones are often three separate variacs joined by a linkage. Good for getting three variacs for the price of one for us single phase folks.
