E.C. Crucibles are a 90% coarse grained tabular alumina mix that is highly resistant to glass attack and highly thermal shock resistant as well.

E.C. Crucibles are available through Pete VanderLaan at 354 Washington Hill Rd, Chocorua New Hampshire. 03817 . Phone 603-323-7900 . E mail is glassgu@earthlink.net

Our on line store is at www.guadalupeglass.com

You can certainly order them direct. It will actually cost a bit more in most instances but not much to get them direct and it will definitely take longer than ordering thru us. Further, when you order from us you are supporting the business that actually designed and paid for the molds of the round bottom pots that we offer. We are the official technical representatives of EC for glass applications . When you call them with questions, they will refer you straight back to us.

Take this conversation to it's own thread. Include material on cold fusion while you're at it.

Peter, I have a 14.5 EC pot that is great and has survived a couple of power outages. It was used all of last season with probably 20-25 ramping cycles in my AIM electric kiln. I have another pot sitting on the sideline when I need it. There are no defects on the current pot. Is there a time that I should consider replacing it? And is there any special procedure for the first heat. Also, how do I get some of your black color? Thanks

I normally replace color crucibles at about fifty cycles, depending on whether it was a batch color or a cullet. Clear pots last longer. Pots turned on and off have shorter life spans by about 30 percent. I have both EC and HighTemp 14.5 inch crucibles in stock and can supply either.
