Anyone up for another get together?

I'll be there for the holidays from the 23rd to the 30th.

T.C. ....

I would like to try to get out and visit you and your shop this time around. Would that be OK?

Steve or Pete,

If you don't mind leaving this here for a little while before sending to cords and striae that would be great.

Count me in. I have some things going on that week, so scheduling may be tricky, but I'll do my best to show up. :)

Duuude, I'd be honored. We are just putting in a new crucible and building a larger G-hole, so no hot glass for a month or so. My assistant flew off a cliff, snowboarding, hit a tree and broke his leg. After walking on it for 2 weeks, he got a plate yesterday. We will see what he can do from a wheelchair tom.
You will need a car to get out here, it's worth the trip though. Not for our place as much as the scenery. My cell is 360-320-4486 give me a heads up and I can talk you in. Later, TC

My crew and I are in Mukelteo Sunday through Tuesday and then on Whidbey for a couple days for installs. Maybe We could make it. I would sure love to.

Dave Bross
12-14-2006, 08:32 AM
Wow!

Looks like potential for a good meet!

I'm wide open for the whole time as of now, so let's try to start narrowing down to a day when everyone can make it?

T.C.

Thanks!

No problem on being cold. I just wanted to come by and say hi and see what you're up to.

I have some memory that you were right close to one of the ferry docks? I was looking for an excuse to go ferry riding but I can maybe rustle up a car if needed.

James,

Great! I'll try to get by.

TC Robertson

Our shop is half way up the island. The one Steve will be at is right next to the ferry holding lot on the mainland side. There is a good bus system. A car is the way to go, I may be able to show you around the area some. Bring folks if you want. Later, TC

Steve Stadelman
12-14-2006, 01:43 PM
T.C, how close are you to Rob Adamson?

Barb Sanderson
12-14-2006, 06:54 PM
Do we want to try and book a date now or later? Generally thurs & fri's are my non-shop days at this time.

Barb

Dave Bross
12-15-2006, 01:50 PM
Let's try to book a time now so we can all plan accordingly.

Should we do it on Whidbey and go visiting T.C. ? That should make it easier to connect with Steve too.

So far we have Barb available for Thurs Dec. 28 and Fri. Dec. 29. Does that Thursday or Friday work for everyone else?

Rich Samuel
12-15-2006, 03:38 PM
I may not be able to make the Whidbey trip, but won't know for sure until the 22nd. when my "real job" schedule comes out. Plan it without me, and keep a good thought. Would love to see TC again. It's been ages! :)

At the moment I'm cleaning up after the "bit of weather" we had last night.

Barb Sanderson
12-15-2006, 05:11 PM
I'm not sure I can do a whidby meeting either. I have a midday thing on the 28th and the 29th is more open at the moment.

Rich,

How bad was your "little bit"? We are in a sheltered valley on Van. Island near Ladysmith, so were spared the worst of the winds (but not the snow or rain). Victoria got hammered by both (again). Saanich (between Victoria and the airport/ferry looks like a 3rd world country.

It was pretty wild. We lost two sections of that fence (other section visible (rather not visible) in the upper left of the photo), a few pieces of the vinyl siding, and some roof tiles. Not so bad compared to others. Just by luck, we'd had the trees surrounding the building pruned only two days before. Otherwise, we'd have had smashed upper-floor windows and lots more siding problems.

There are still huge downed trees all over Capitol Hill, and lots of crushed vehicles. A rerouted articulated Metro bus tried to turn on to our street last night and got wedged between parked cars. It took Metro a few hours to untangle the mess and tow it away (in reverse!).

I stood outside late last night and watched, and listened to, transformers blowing up all over the neighborhood. I'll never know why we didn't lose power. (My best guess: It was the eve of Hannukkah. ;) ) There's a house and some condos for sale across the street, and the realtors' signs were hanging parallel to the ground!

Among the debris I picked up out front this morning was a 3' square metal sign from a fingernail painting salon that's located three blocks away!

Saddest story was of a 41-year-old voice actress who lived a few blocks from me. She went into her basement to try and save her recording equipment, and a wall of water rushed in trapping her. A dive crew responded, cut through her floor, but was too late to save her. What a strange way to die, drowning in your basement. :(

The power's still out all over the east side (Bellevue, Kirkland, Redmond, etc.), and they're saying it could be days before it's restored.

I was blowing glass in England back in '93 when the infamous "Inaugural Day Storm" hit, but they're saying this one was even worse, with winds up to 70MPH. I heard they recorded winds on the coast of 153MPH. Is that even possible!?

Helluva night.

Barb Sanderson
12-15-2006, 11:01 PM
Yes it was! We're still without power and may be out for another day or two - brrrr!!!!! It sure is getting cold tonight too. We are just happy to not have a tree crush our house or vehicle or ourselves right now.

So, looking like the 29th is the best bet so far?

If it's too much on everyone's schedule to go to Whidbey then we could always do something around the city so as to make it a possibility for more folks.

Barb Sanderson
12-16-2006, 10:52 AM
Sounds good Dave - count me in for the 29th either Whidbey or seattle. Happy holidays in the meantime!

Barb

TC Robertson

Ok, our power is back on after 24 hrs. I am going to Honda.com for a generator right after this!
The 29th looks fine up here, thats 2 weeks from today. I live in Coupeville, and the studio is in Oak Harbor. It is about a 35 min drive from Rob's place. I will plan a little tour of the area if we have time. Hope to see yous guys. Later, TC :D

Dave Bross
12-17-2006, 08:58 AM
Allright! Looks like the 29th it is.

Let's make it a field trip to Whidbey? We could visit T.C., maybe hook up with Steve and poke around the area otherwise?

I may or may not be able to get a car. Barb, are you able to drive?

If yes, could I catch a ride?

Barb Sanderson
12-17-2006, 03:58 PM
Sure Dave - I do drive but and you are welcome as a passenger but at your own risk ;)

Rich - do you want/need a drive too?
Charles where are you these days??

Barb

Rich Samuel
12-17-2006, 04:25 PM
I won't know until late this coming Thursday what the 29th. will look like. I know I have to be around here during the morning, but with any luck I'll be free the rest of the day. Will let you know when I know.

I wish my Caravan was running properly. We probably could fit everybody in it.

Dave Bross
12-18-2006, 05:03 AM
Thanks Barb! I'll cover fuel and dining and promise no jokes about Canadian/female drivers.

Rich, Hope it works out, we'll see.

TC Robertson
12-18-2006, 05:25 PM
Sounds like a plan. Let me know what time of day you might make it.
My assistant now has pnemonia caused by slamming his ribs when he broke his leg. I did'nt know that could happen. Good we are rebuilding now.
My Honda EU 2000 generator will be in tom. I'ts gona be a long winter! Later, TC :(

Charles Friedman
12-18-2006, 05:36 PM
Well, this looks like fun. I will blow off SAM for the day. My van holds 7. Friday the 29th. Sounds good. Charles

Barb Sanderson
12-18-2006, 10:14 PM
Yay!!! But can I still drive????? ;)

Barb

Barb Sanderson
12-18-2006, 10:15 PM
And will I need lunch money now too???

Barb

Dave Bross
12-19-2006, 05:52 AM
Allright!

The Craftweb expeditionary forces assemble for an assault on Whidbey.

We should probably start thinking about a departure time so T.C. can figure things on his end?

I don't mind early if needed, my day begins at 4:30 anyway and my biologicals tend to follow along in their habits.

Is holiday ferry riding still a mystery as to when you'll actually get on the boat?

TC Robertson
12-19-2006, 05:23 PM
That ferry runs every half hour. In the summer the wait on the mainland side is horrible on fri. aft. and worse on the island side on sunday.
It should be no prob on that friday, if you don't go too late in the day. Look for my car. Later, TC

Rich Samuel
12-19-2006, 10:07 PM
Ye olde schedule (http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/ferries/schedules/current/index.cfm?route=muk-cl).

Any idea of when we might expect to be back in Seattle? If I'm not working Friday there's a good chance I'll have to work Saturday. Ugh.

Barb Sanderson
12-20-2006, 02:18 PM
It might be nice to get out earlier and back before the evening craziness hits? I can meet you all at the ferry just let me know what time the caravan is leaving!

Barb

Dave Bross
12-21-2006, 01:01 PM
I like that idea. I have to catch the plane way early the next day so an early departure and return suits me.

TC Robertson
12-21-2006, 04:22 PM
Okay, I won't be at the studio till 9, it's about and hour once you get on the ferry. You guys could go north out of here over Deception Pass on the way back. Or lunch at Toby's in Coupeville on the way back down. I will come too and show ya'll my neighborhood on the way out.
Just got the furnace sealed up, on to the new G-hole. Later, TC

Rich Samuel
12-22-2006, 02:53 AM
I've got Friday off!

So, what's the plan? Are we meeting up at Charles' place, and vanning it?

Dave, are you staying with your sister? Do you have wheels? If so, can I hitch a ride? (I'm happy to drive my vehicle as far as Charles' house, but not much further. Also, I don't want it to die on the interstate....again :( )

Barb, can we pick you up at your place, or meet you on the way?

What time are we aiming for to catch the ferry?

T, anything we can bring you from the big city?

Henry Halem
12-22-2006, 09:32 AM
If your going to be in Mukilteo why don't you visit Jim Mongrains studio.

Barb Sanderson
12-22-2006, 12:48 PM
Been there, done that.....

Barb Sanderson
12-22-2006, 12:49 PM
It's probably easiest for me to meet everyone at the ferry - just let me know what time you are aiming to get there.

Charles Friedman
12-22-2006, 07:23 PM
Dave and Rich, meet me at my place early, and we can catch up with Barb at the ferry, Steve, where can we meet with you? and see what you are are up to? My # is 206-781-0608

Steve Stadelman
12-22-2006, 07:26 PM
Well, I did a couple days work in Mukletio with the guys and had to head home for some other priorities. Brent and Jordan got as far as possible up there today and are headed back down tonight. Jim's electrician won't be on the job until Tuesday so the job has to wait until then. I would have loved to have seen everyone though.

Rich Samuel
12-22-2006, 07:29 PM
Charles, please define "early." :D

This is what we are talking about, I think. All who want to go, meet at my place around 9 Friday morning. Rich or Dave or anyone else. Just give me a call for a head count. Barb, we will give you a call.
Steve are you still going to be around?

Dave Bross
12-25-2006, 11:06 PM
Charles,

I know I was there once, but best to give me your address again.
I'll be there one way or another.

Rich,

Enough left of your car to make it over there and if yes, can I catch a ride? Or maybe Barb can round us up on the way in?

Rich Samuel
12-26-2006, 01:51 AM
Dave, I'm pretty sure the Caravan will make it to Charles' house (and back) without incident. Will pick you up at 8:30 Friday morning, OK? I have Charles address, so no problem there. Barb is too far north for it to make sense for her to do a sweep of Capitol Hill. ;)

Your place is looking really good.

Rich Samuel

I second Dave's comments. T, it was great seeing you again after so long. You look so much better (and younger!) than I recall. Would love to make a return trip when the shop's hot again. Sorry we didn't have a chance to visit with Lynn. Say hi to her for me.

Also, thanks to Charles for the hospitality and driving.

And I've decided my New Year's resolution should be to never again take my pain killers on an empty stomach. :D

TC Robertson

It was good to see you guys. I will try to post pics some day.

Rich, I did a similar thing in Ohio last fall. Be carfeful. Later, TC
