Call your lawyer and have him send a letter telling them you will take them to small claims. Make sure they have to sign for the letter so you know they are still in operation and you have proof they recieved it. This works most of the time. It will only cost you around 100 bucks.

Hiya Eben!
Say, did you happen to call them yet? Who knows? Maybe they've been selling so much work that they're too busy to write checks?

While it is possible they dislike you and have been plotting your downfall, it's more likely that something has happened at their end to mess things up or bog things down, and they don't personally wish you any hardship. It may just be that they feel awful for not paying you already, and haven't responded to you because they feel real crappy to call you and say they can't pay you yet, even though they love you and are so glad to have your work in their gallery that they surely hope as soon as they get the situation under control they can order more - and if they have to secure the next order with a credit card it's no problem, and gosh thanks for being so understanding. They got in this business because they love art and artists and you have reaffirmed their belief in humanity!:D

Now that the Holiday rush is over, a phone call might be a good thought. My other theory is that if they're in finacial trouble, and you call and have a little heart to heart with them, you may move up the list of people who get paid and when.
Happy New Year! and
Good Luck, Brice

call one, call twice, keep calling and being a royal pain. Also be prepared to take a CC payment over the phone to clear up the account.

was this consignment work or an wholesale order? and do you have any kind of a contract with them regarding the payment terms?

Do not tell me it was Show of Hands in Phily. If it was A BMAC order you can have Wendy's people send them a pay up gram. That as worked for me in the past. If not yes you just have to become a pain in the butt and keep calling ot sent it to a collections group and let them be the pain. It will cost you some but that is not the point now. PAY UP like you said.

eben, netween here and warmglass i am sure there is someone near by who would be willing to do a visit to that gallery. maybe just to do a look see or maybe to hand those folks a bill for you. rosanna ps, i have found that a certified return reciept letter from me has worked with no lawyering.

calling and getting a credit card number on the phone is the easiest way to do this and keep it cheerful. The trick here is to not lose the client in the process of getting your money.

" hello, I'm calling concerning invoice #......, if you would like, we could take care of that by credit card now and save you the trouble of writing a check, and the stamp"

I just read that, in some weird "tribute" to Gerry Ford, there will be no mail delivery on Tuesday. That's three consecutive days without mail. I thought that was illegal, or maybe I'm thinking of days in-a-row banks can be closed. Anyway, that sucks. Just lower the flags to half-staff and do your jobs.

Oh, I see this is by order of GWB. Why does this not surprise me?

Grumble, grumble, grumble. :(

It was the banks not the post office. They can be off all they want, it will just take longer to get the bills since that is all they seem to deliver now a days. They are federal employees are they not?

This was put into effect to prevent percieved runs on banks thinking they were closing and running out the cash reserves. It was put into effect some time around the depression....

That's odd considering that he's not even going to the guy's funeral.

Oh yea, I've noticed you're posting now and then all along Eben, I just didn't realize I was such a slacker with not even a respectable hundred Important Contributions to the Glass Community yet.

Of course, we did move to Colorado and set up my first public viewership studio this year (Which was roughly 3 times the job I thought), so I'll use that as this years' excuse. Hmmm, wonder what I can use next year.........

Anywho -
!! ~~~HAPPY NEW YEAR~~~ !!
