Yeah, I can find it, but I am calling on the collective wisdom to direct me to a good source. I've used some but any tips are also welcome.
I have an order for several pieces and the design calls for gold leaf. Typically I have put it on the outside as a final step, flash several times and put it away. I suspect there is some downside to this (ie: being able to scratch it off)
Educate me.
Thanks all

Dear Rick,
Sepp Leaf is where we went too. I also bought a box with a fan inside(like a computer fan) that draws intake air down thru a perforated metal top and exhausts the air out the side. So its a vacuum table for gold leaf. We tried the wet paper towel on a paddle put the vacuum table was far better.
Hope this helps,

Mr Sakuda is a great source for gold and silver leaf out of Japan that I have ordered lots from. Very nice man to deal with and you can get thicker leaf material that has a more brilliant effect on the surface, if that is what you want. Square sheets 10 and 20 cm sizes. Ships with Japanese stamps on the package, perfectly folded and tied wrappers, and Japanese Christmas cards to you each year

I like the effect of uncased leaf on glass, but I did learn that you have to be careful how you work the glass after you put it on - Jacks and blocks can scratch fine circumferential lines into it that do show up in the end. You can also burn it back off in the glory hole if stays uncased and gets too hot
Suction box with stainless steel mesh over expanded metal support - picks up leaf smooth as silk

Sylvie at ColourFusion (http://www.colourfusion.com/) sells nice gold and silver as well.
Bill Gudenrath showed us a neat trick to hold the foil/leaf if no vacuum rig is available: take a scrap piece of thin aluminum sheet (not foil) and rub it with a scochbrite or similar cleaning pad - the leaf will stick to the sheet nicely.

We bought a packet of "Gold Leaf" from our local Hobby Lobby. Needless to say it was not real gold. Turned green and flamed up on pick up.
