I was at shop this weekend that has their correll furnace down with a rotted recouperator. The owner asked me if Charle Correll was still around as they have been calling for for a while, and can't get any calls back and no answer directly...at this point they are sitting with one cold furnace...any idea if he is still making furnaces/parts...the odd thing is this recouperator was only fire for a total of less than 3 year, and it's completely rotted through the base, cutting off all the tubes.

Here is the connection to Charlie's studio, phone and email.

I had found that, and they did to...just there hasn't been anyone to talk to, so I didn't know if he was still around or not, despite the web site being there.

Charlie does occasionally go away for short times and does not leave a message system when he goes.

that would explain it...I think the decision has been made to not repair, or maybe bypass the whole thing and run for the short term.

I just sold a Correll furnace that I owned and operated for ten years. Charlie always stood behind his product and was responsive and knowledgeable every time I contacted him, including a call just a few weeks ago. He’s probably just away from home right now.

My ten year old recuperator still passes the water test (fill it with water and look for leaks).

I had that also happen to my Charlie furnace after two years. He did take it back and fix it - a few inches shorter - but it has worked for the past 5 years fine. Just bypass it to get it up and runnung. And do not run the furnace in any reduction, that is what kills the recuperators. I was told that before I got the furnace.
