View Full Version : Wet Belt Sander Wheels

I have gotten involved in a project that looks like it needs a wet belt sander. Being unwilling to spend money I don't have on the project (unless someone can suggest really nice low priced unit, without motor), I would like suggestions on getting the upper drive wheel and the lower idler wheel that runs wet. Pulley off top wheel to motor out the wet.
Doesn't have to be too wide - 2" would work - but wouldn't mind a source in case I want to build bigger.

Depending on what you are working on, a lot can be done with belts on expansion drums and an arbor. You can get belts from 60 to 600. Graves is the company that has a complete line.

I agree, the expansion drum is one of the most versitile tools for the price. I get mine at Kingsley North. They also supply the belts in SiCa, resin bonded diamonds and plated diamond.

Thanks for the suggestions, but expansion or expansion drum produces no search results at Kingsley North.

Months ago I asked for help finding an adhesive that would repair belts. I have many where the seam has failed, some almost immediately. I got lots of suggestions and have tried eveything that seemed reasonable. My final conclusion it that Pliobond is the stuff to use. Everything else has had a failure rate, though some things lasted pretty well. I am now happily using belts that I bought years ago. For butt joint belts, I am using a strip of worn out belt glued across both ends. I hope this search helps others save some $. I got no help from any abrasive company on this.

Of course they're not going to help you, they want you to buy more belts!

The irony of that is that if any had helped me, thay would have had my market for life and all of you would have known about it.
