I think the rings and or valves are toast in my compressor. Has anyone here ever replaced these parts themselves? What kind of headache/s am I going to encounter? How long of a task?

The compressor is a 10hp, Ingersoll Rand T30.

I rebuilt the top end on my Sullivan-Palatek with out to much trouble. I found it to be just like doing a refresh job on a HD V twin. It ended up just being the head gasket had a tear in it where the compression blew it out. This is common. I decided to replace the rings while I had it all apart which ended up being doable, but a complete pain in the ass. Make sure you have a good quality ring tool.
I was once told while Ingersoll Rand makes an oustanding product, the heads, on some models, will warp over time due to over heating ( poor fin placement design). in this case the head simply needs to be milled down to make a better fit.
I would check that also.

and if the head is warped, and you have a rose lap, you can mill it yourself. It's a major use of the lap that the glass world is unaware of.
