I'm curious what most of you use on the floor of your pot furnaces. The last one I built I used Mazou. Its been in use for 5 years now and is holding up great but I have never lost a pot. My color furnace is a different matter. It has lost a number of pots thus has gotten quite wet a number of times and the floor is in pretty bad shape. I cant remember what I used on it.

Kenny,our color furnace is in the same shape. We change the pots on a regular schedule and with the furnace cold we clean the bottom with an air chisel. A little sand under the larger pots and a patty of Mizzou under the small ones seems to work fine.

Yes,and so far that looks like the best solution.

I used a rammable clay floor Kenny and it worked much better than mizzou which turned kind of punky after a while. The clay always seemed brand new even under three inches of glass slop.
