Im attempting to become a distribution hub and truck container loads of spruce batch out to Oregon.
I was wondering if anyone was interested in alleviating their shipment problems with getting spruce in Oregon?

Certainly the trick in Oregon is in the eastern part of the state. This goes for eastern Washington as well. Unbelieveably expensive freight costs. I think a hub there will be great. Brent may well be the next Phyll O'Reilley. You heard it here first.

I'm suggesting that if enough people need batch on a regular basis in the area I would be willing to front a container or two, deal with storage and shipping, and also keep prices fair out here.
I don't want to be stuck with 40 tons of batch for a year.
And Pete I don't quite know how to take that endorsment you gave me. ;)

I don't think we'll catch Brent with tassels on his shoes any time soon though.

and just think! They've all been in my classes and not one of them was entrapped in a Minnesota airport bathroom while trying to get there.

Well, their footwear lacks the distinctive snap of a leather-soled shoe -- you know, the kind of crisp sound that efficiently and forcefully tells all men in the restroom that a U.S. senator is in one of the stalls and wishes to suck off a complete stranger (or two).

Sorry I got that train rolling.
:whip: :bang: :headbang:
Haven't had too much interest yet, but some, so I guess everyone is happy with their present situation. I'm working on getting lift-gate deliveries for a steal, and a good deal on train shipment on a container. I might be able to save people a decent amount on shipping, with real competitive prices. Get a hold of me if any of this peaks your interest.

Brent,
I guess this is why I emailed you instead of posting but here goes:
One or two tons a year depending on my current schedule. Thanks for the offer.

Well Brent, good on you.
Back in the spring you might recall that I was trying to drum up some interest in a truck load, or LTL (less than a full load) shipment from Spruce Pine to the New England states. The savings in truck freight would have been significant, but it seemed that almost everyone was in need of lift-gate deliveries which I couldn't offer. So I hope this works for you folks out there.
Piggy-backing on your efforts, since two areas of savings are possible.... (quantity buying and quantity shipping)... how about a group buy with a split shipment--? part heads to the New England corridor, and part goes west. Not sure, but we might be able to add a few names to the list from here (especially since Fenton has closed).

Virginia, what I'm doing is sending full containers out here by train, then splitting them up with lift gate deliveries from portland. We do a lot of business with fedex out here and I can get a good price.
The only way I might be able to help is if you have a central place to train something in and then divide it up.
get a hold of me if you really want to work something out.
