Is this your first visit, Tom? If not, you already know what follows. If so, this might be helpful.
Be sure to look up Richard Golding at Okra Glass (http://www.okraglass.com/aboutus.htm). He knows more about the economics of building and running a successful studio than anyone I've ever met. Also a helluva nice guy.
You might also want to check out Royal Brierley (http://www.dartington.co.uk/royal-brierley/index.html?page=/royal-brierley/visitor01.htm), the Red House Glass Cone (http://www.dudley.gov.uk/leisure-and-culture/museums--galleries/red-house-glass-cone), Broadfield House Glass Museum (http://www.dudley.gov.uk/leisure-and-culture/museums--galleries/glass-museum), Ruskin Glass Centre (http://www.ruskin-mill.org.uk/), Plowden & Thompson (http://www.plowden-thompson.com/), and of course the International Glass Centre (http://www.dudleycol.ac.uk/Default.asp?Page=180), where yours truly spent '92-'93. :)
Get in the mood by reading this (http://books.google.com/books?id=nrFv7EhDhMkC&pg=PA7&dq=Glassmakers+of+Stourbridge+and+Dudley+1612-2002&as_brr=0&sig=m2Ak6rtLfKExsdAHcH05cd1RkbU). :D

THANKS Rich, I've been to the area before but it's been a few years. I've contacted Okra Glass and am planning on seeing them and hopefully spend some time at the Broadfield House Museum amongst other venues.

Where is Colin Reid located? I would love to see his studio. I'm actually going to be in the UK at the end of the month too.
