For the next few days I'll be in Enterprise, Alabama scouting for a building to house my studio come June. I retire (with the grace of God) on May 30th 2008. My daughter was kind enough to pay for my plane ticket to Montgomry where they will pick me up. It will be good to see my friends,my son Josh and my daughter Angela and granddaughter Kierra. I'm still looking for a deal on an at least 33ft motorhome with low miles. I have a few prospects. A new one is way too much coin for me to deal out right now. I'm sure I will find a good deal on Ebay. Buy one in the northeast and you buy someone's problems. I won't have access to a computer in the deep south so I'll see ya'l when I return.
Wish me luck,
Jay.

Ps This is what I'm looking for,

Oh, and be sure to read the instructions!

This is a true story according to Road and Track Magazine:

When a man attempted to siphon gasoline from a motorhome parked on a Seattle street, he got much more than he bargained for.

Police arrived at the scene to find an ill man curled up next to a motorhome near spilled sewage. A police spokesman said that the man admitted to trying to steal gasoline and plugged his hose into the motorhome`s sewage tank by mistake.

The owner of the vehicle declined to press charges, saying that it was the best laugh he's ever had.

Jay,

Be sure to remember "they don't want to hear "how" you did things up North"! :feathers: You will be the foreigner, if you want the folks in Alabama to like (or at least put up with) you remember that they are the locals.

Like all glassblowers, you will have "fire" on your side. Everyone likes fire...especially Southern rednecks!! And the offer of a cold beer will make many good friends.

You're going to love the fishing in the Gulf.

"This is how they haul their four wheelers down there."

That's just in case they get a flat tire.

Jay get the wooden one in the pic above and just keep driving South until you get to the Ocean. Continue driving and you will soon float up to the surface then let the tide /currents take you to that island you wanted to visit.

Let me know when you settle in. We will get something going. I just opened my shop this weekend to a pumpkin party and sold over 180 pumpkins in one night. They sure sold a lot faster than it took to make them. They will pay for my shop which was the point.

The glass shop that was built on the backs of pumpkins.

I am shutting down on tuesday to build the hood, run more electric, and a couple of other little things.

Let me know when you need some help.

I have been coming here since 1991 so it's like returning home. I'll be returning to Ny this coming weekend. I'm sooo busy seeing family and friends I wish I could get down to Pennsacola to see the new digs Scott but it will have to wait till next time. I have to make a quick 8 hour trip to Houston to my daughters to see their new house. Commitments, commitments. Oh well. House Boating southern stile. I love it.
Jay.

I have been told that the south-west (Phoenix or Las Vegas area?) is "the place" to buy used RVs. Seems ma 'n pa head on down there and like it a bit more than the snowbird life, so's they sell the RV and get into a nice trailer park. I can corroborate this observation based on the actions of certain family members now living in the Pahrump area.

Well, I'm back in Ny. The jet ride was really bumpy coming back. I had fun and it was good to see my kid's and grand daughter. It wasn't as frutfull finding a place to put the studio though. I have a couple possabilities but there's a lot of work and money to go into the buildings before they would be able to house a studio. They don't take care of their buildings very well down there. One you could throw a cat threw and not even hurt the cat. I'm thinking Open Air Studio now. Buy a chunk of land and build an open pole barn plumb it electrify it and go to it. Lots to think about. Then again maybe it's time to hang it up and do something else. Lots to think about.
Jay.
