I just picked up a used and abused sommer maca belt sander for next to free..the motor, swith, solenoid, and top pully wheel are all fine, and the machine's frame is almost perfect, but the bottom pully bearing is shot, and needs to be replaced. It appears that the shaft is bent as well, which is probably why the bearings are cooked.

is there a place that rebuilds this kind thing, or should i just get the parts from sommer maca and have the bearings pressed at a garage/machine shop??

the folks at sm are very helpfull. if you send them the numbers off your machine you can get a manual and complete machine drawings for it. rosanna

DIY ?

What about welding up a small suitable sized yolk/arbor and using a bottle jack to press bearings and straighten shafts.
