Max safety!!! Do all you can, no matter what it costs. My whole facility went up in flames, Denver furnace, kilns, glory holes and all... you know those aluminum molds melt so nicely... and none of that was on, just another little kiln in a corner. Electrical problem and whoosh. anyway no more classes. Do all you can for safety, later, Glazmon Earl"E" http://flashglassart.com

so sorry to hear. Was the electrical problem in the kiln or the wall? Was the wiring old? This is the stuff of nightmares.

It started in the kiln, 15 years old and used when we bought it then, lasted but...now to go about looking at equipment to build somehow, not gonna give up, I been GlazmonEarl"E" since 1977, gotta blow, somehow, some way. But when you see your pipes with all the rubber and plastic melted down, there's no repair. Already talked to Steinert, new head, weld and straighten, same as buying new.
Denver furnace electronics all melted down, more WIRING, have not even asked them about that.
Just got in 300 lbs. spectrum cullet, no use now. I won't go on.
Have a better day, Glazmon Earl"E"

The kiln controller busted and flamed to catch the wall on fire?
Either way bitter pill to swallon I wish you the best of luck rebuilding.

I am sorry for the loss. As an ex firechief interested in studio fires I would really like to know the details here. Distance from combustibles, etc.

I Tell ya , not sure Exactly... But when I walk in to the shell of the building and look at what looks to be the blast radius, all that the firemen have left in the driveway seemed to be the hollowed shell of the ole Paragon with the bottom dropped out . It was a good kiln while it lasted but, but, no more. Definitly not repairable.
Oddly enough, the 50 colors of Pearl Powder made it thru, and they were in plastic containers. But they are toxic, so another one of those Safety items to be concerned with.
And if you make your own colors, Safety with Chemicals...all those Pure Powders of Nitrates and Chlorides and Oxides, mm good. Got lucky and all those were in a metal container, saved.
Anyway, my Combustibles as in gases were all stored 25 feet away, with a line running in, shut off valve, and none of those went off.
On that note , please blow one for me,joking, GlazmonEarl"E"
