I've just been given a box of Blu-RamHS - a plastic refractory. Another local glassblower uses it to repair his glory-hole ring, door, etc. Looks like you just kind of mold it/sculpt it into place and cure it slowly. My questions: anyone else have any experience with this? and what do we all think about exposing this kind of product to direct flame? I think it is made by Vesuvius and I will contact them too, just looking for input from the community!
thanks

should be a 3000F refractory susan. They don't really make insulating plastics that I'm aware of. Pound it into place and fire it. It should work fine for wwhat you describe. It does dry out easily so use it soon or really wrap it up in water in a bag.

The only stuff I've used is Duquesne Rammable (the only stuff I could get in Canada at the time), but I used it to build a gathering port for my furnace and then again to rebuild a spot in my glory hole that needed protection from glass.
Worked perfectly in both applications, still holding up very well.
