Anyone here connected to the ppl who shot "Glass India'? I'm going to India in late March - mid April and would love to stop by a factory if it's convenient.

Any ideas? thx

I've had nothing to do with the viseo, but have spent some time in Firozabad, about 40km east of Agra where much of it was shot. There is very little glass in southern India that I know of.

Where do you stay in Ferozabad?

Thanks for your kind words Franklin.

It was some years ago that I was there - a truly amazing place, though not at all set up for any kind of tourist visitors. There was one guesthouse pretty close to the centre of town, and I think this was the only place to stay unless you have private contacts. If you have the time, you can easily stay in Agra (where the Taj is) and hire a driver for the day to take you out there. Its probably about an hours drive. There is a bus there from Agra, but its typically a hard, long and slow drive and the service is typically intermittent.

Pete Hunner and his partner Marbritte? from Baltic Sea Glass in Denmark spent some time out there and wrote a fabulous book called 'Glass Beads of India' , it was originally written in Danish but has since been translated into English. Its a real gem of a book, I'll dig mine out and find the ISBN if you are interested.

India is such an incredible country in so many ways, I would very much like to spend more time there at some point. If you are planning a trip. I'd recommend not to try and see too much in a short space of time. Travel can be slow and things can take more time than you think. It took me a while to get used to the pace of India and made things much easier once I had. It was always amusing to see western travellers exploding with frustration at the Indian ways. It is such a fascinating place on so many levels - and the food is the best I have ever had.

Thanks Peter I get the impression that you just cant walk in the factory and see things. I am trying to get some info from a friend who visit Agra sometimes but so far she cant find anyone who can help.
Yes I hear you need lots of time to talk before doing business.
