Hello all.

I'm doing a little hard brick to soft brick work on my furnace.

Where can I find some Hi temp mortar, about a quart??

Hi Charles. Seattle Pottery Supply has quarts of Sairset Kiln Mortar (http://www.seattlepotterysupply.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?) * for $6.75 each. (Don't know what the two different catalogue numbers mean, though, and there's no description given.) Is that what you're looking for?

* The link goes to their home page. Just hit Search and enter Mortar.

Can you get something that does not "Suck" in a quart?

Depends on where you live. The price of the chemicals seem reasonable but the shipping will kill you if you do not live in Seattle. Last time I bought something from them the product was approx 14.00 and frt was 40.00. I live in Indiana.

Charles , I have seen decent mortars for sale many times at lumber companies ( not home depot). In a city the size of seattle, you should be able to get something workable. I suggest you try that first. Even try the yellow pages for fireplace builders or general refractory suppliers. And you are right, sairset not only sucks, it is one of the worst products ever produced by AP Green.

I.did.not.know.that. Have never used the stuff myself, but I've seen it in enough pottery studios to think some folks get decent results.

Potters maybe? ;)

Super 32 from Hi temp in Portland is the stuff. I'll never use Sairset again if I can help it. Sairset will get the job done but the Super 32 is much nicer to work with.

Thanks Jordon, That's the stuff. It's on the way.
