ok i have a pail of supercast 3000 premix moater and it has gone bad and i need to fix a glory hole door at the school today and as expected they never ordered the stuff when told to weeks ago, now i am stuck.
so, years ago i worked for a guy who used to just use regular clay he would wet the bricks and add the clay nice and slip like so that it would get into the poors of the bricks to stick the bricks together and then clamp the steel frame on then weld all the joints so that the whole thing was tight and this would last for years.
so, the door design that i have, is such that the bricks (28's) will stay in without moater but i add it in because, well its a school and students (and some instructors) are not so kind to the equipment,so what do you think should i give the clay a shot? has any of you guys done this trick before? any sujestions on what clay body to use? i have a stoneware and teracotta available.

Just as wild guesses, Fireclay (Hawthorne) with extra grog and or vermiculite. If you are looking at bags, Hawthorne is packaged by Laclede, and is a coarse almost mortar like texture. But I'm not sure what fireclay they might use up there.

Stoneware if you don't have raw materials. NOT terracotta, that melts into a nice glaze around 2000degF.
