I have a customer looking to purchase two of these large glass eyes. Does anyone know who made them and if they are still available? Thanks!

Perhaps not, but I have learned it was made in or around the Atlanta area by an artist there.

That would be a relatively short list.

I'm not willing to bet the farm on this, but the style, subject matter (the eye is all over middle eastern work which is possible the biggest influence on the venetians - just look at st marks) and the form of the piece just don't look like it came from an american. I'm curious to see how this turns out. This piece required some skill. this was not made by a weekend renter. So this further narrows the field. Atlanta? Who is in Atlanta?

My only visit to the South was a weekend trip to Atlanta back in 2003 when my wife and I were making plans for relocation. There was only one studio in the area. A guy named Matt Janke and his wife (sorry, I forget her name right now) run it:

They're really nice folks. The only other glassblowing facility was one of those tourist attractions where everyone dresses like old'n times. I didn't go there.
I worked with a guy last year in LA that was from the ATL area, and worked for Matt and rented time there. He said someone else had opened a shop since I had been there, but I don't remember a name.
I never thought I'd say this, but I'm glad I ended up in Los Angeles. I'd rather blow glass in the Valley when it's in the 90's and DRY.

Oh yeah, I'm not an expert, but it looks Venetian to me too.

Doesn't belong to any of the artists that work out of our studio. I've asked around to some of the folks down at Georgia Southwestern but no one knows (or unwilling to claim ownership). What time period was this item made? Any identifying marks
Maybe it was just purchased in the Atlanta area and not produced? Vespermann Gallery has been here in Atlanta for a long time.

It could have been purchased at a TJ Max (in Atl) and made in China.
I don't recall Italians using much frit. And that green...

Thanks everyone! As Scott said, it is of cultural importance to our client and not something I thought would be easy to find. For a number of reasons we declined to replicate it for her but I agreed to post the photo on the slim chance someone would know of it's origin. I don't have access to the piece to see any markings or other clues. If anyone wants to make some, there is a market waiting for you! This client was sent to us by another glassblower......I will repay the favor some time in the future.;)

Hi-
One of my suppliers (giftware) sells what I think is that piece. From the best I can tell it is the same. But they don't list sizes or anything.
You have to be the judge. This is their photo that I grabbed from their website.
They charge $25 each plus shipping. I can tack it onto my next order if you want as they have a $250 minimum.

The image isn't posting for whatever reason. I will try it again here. If it doesn't work again and you want to see it, let me know and I can email it to you.

Sure looks like the same critter! I tried to email you but your profile said you don't accept emails. Please contact me if you can and I will pass the information on to our customer. Many thanks!

I'm betting it all. If it's $25, its not american.

For $25 bucks it's not American or anywhere else where adults are working on their own free will for hard currency.

Sourcing this kind of stuff regularly, and knowing the supplier, my money is on China. VERY slight chance someplace like Poland, but I doubt it.
