Did anyone else get one of these today, or are we just special? The lack of reply info and some really bad photos that were included just makes me twitch a bit.

"Hello
We are looking for blown glass dish or bowl shaped pieces. They need to be non-footed with an approximate 3/8" hole in the bottom. 4 basic sizes - 14", 10", 7" and 4". These are the sizes we use all of the time, however, we are interested in large pieces also. Chihuly style glass, your color combinations/designs. We use approximately 50 pieces of the 4", 50 pieces of the 7", 25 pieces of the 10" and 20 pieces of the 14" per color, per month. The volume fluctuates, however, that is generally the minimum. We are currently fuming with titanium to achieve an iridescence. If this is possible that would be great or if you can achieve an iridescence using other methods that's ok too....Even without iridescence we are still interested. I have attached a few photos to give you the general idea of the shape and then there is the color picture of the colors we are now using. Would you be interested or do you know of any glass blowers that would be interested?
Thanks,
Donna "

It sounds to me that they are going to use them as production lampshades. If so, someone could do alright with that order.

It looks eerily familiar. I think it was posted somewhere else recently on a public board. Who knows it could pay off. We ended up making several hundred pumpkins for another blower last year. When I first saw what was offered I laughed but in the end it made money. If you run the production right the money can follow. It usually cost more on the setup but if the numbers are big sometimes it will pay off in the end. Look at what some of the factories make and still make money. Then again there is always the story of the guy who made a perfume bottle 20 years ago and it sold so well that's all they make today. The offer could lead to the beginning of the end but maybe not. Let us know what you find out.

The email was replied to within 5 minutes of it being sent...we asked them to call to discuss, and the phone still has not rung. It would only be taken if it fit with our current production, since we are a weeee bit busy with our own work as well. We would want our studio production rates, nothing less anyway.

The studio I rent from had that call the other day. They wanted the 14 inch bowl for $21 dollars if I remember correctly. The owner couldn't produce the product at that price so he passed on the job

$21??, no wonder they didn't even bother to call me back...we wouldn't even consider that with the cost of glass, gas, electricity and color, and they want them irid besides...call the guys in china for that one.

I could have got it wrong but I don't think so. I was my understanding they
wanted 20 or so a month. Just to be safe I'll double check tomorrow.

well, they never called us anyway...e have our own lighting designs in progress, so making shades for someone else may not be the best anyway.
