Anyone else watching Lino on the Tacoma Museum of Glass webcam (http://www.museumofglass.org/live-glassmaking/watch-the-hot-shop-live/)? I just started watching about 10 mins ago so I missed the whole assembly of the piece. I'm hoping they'll do another one after this.

Every time I switch tabs in Firefox, when I switch back to the webcam it goes all white. I still get sound but I have to hit stop and play again to see anything.

Damn I wish I could have seen that whole piece. Did that piece get f'd up in the end? I've never seen a Lino flared out wonky platter....

So great to watch THE master

It's destroyed my productivity all afternoon.

I think he's making a wall installation from those spun-out pieces. Note the base they add when they bring the punty--this looks like a wall mount.

Good point, I tuned in just after the punty had been stuck. I was biting my nails watching the multiple attempts to get it off the pipe. If it was me, it would have been a floor model.....

It doesn't matter, this is all just for show. All of his work is made in China these days...

Thank you for visiting the Hot Shop Live from Tacoma! The video takes about 1 minute to start feeding so the square above will be blank until the video kicks in. You are watching what is taking place in the hot shop as it happens. Come down to the Museum and see it live!

Yes yes its on but I have a blank screen for the last 5 mins nevertheless I will be glued to it and hopefully will see my Hero do somethig. Sorry Henry Lino can sing better than you.

The why does he work at Jim Mondgrain's place for 4-6 weeks at a time twice a year?

Jim is a lot of things but he sure as hell is not chinese!

About 21 minutes for a multiple encalmo (I counted 9 patterns) 2 ft x 3 ft spinout. There's something to be said for "many hands".

Usually when it is said and done, they make a short video and put it up on youtube, if you check Musteum of Glass's site they also have some great photo gallery's of the guest artists. I don't know if one could save the video, I have never tried.

If I can see it I can save it. Just never seem to have the free time to see it.

I tried saving one using the Real player feature. When I played it back later all I had was the audio track. Personally, I have Real Problems with anything from Real Networks but I wouldn't be too surprised if TMOG prevented saving the vid stream.

Hasn't anyone on this board besides me had the privilage of working with Lino?
It was an amazing experence. I'm probably the only Gaffer in the world that has kicked him out of my chair. I came into Steuben on the afternoon slot to find this non english speaking short dude working at my bench. Everyone was kissing up to this guy and I told my boss to get him out of my chair so I could go to work. Well my boss told me to set up in another chair for the day and I refused not knowing who Lino was at first. When he heard I was pissed he got up picked up his tools and oppologised for holding up my production. Later I was told who he was and I oppologised to him for my rudeness and he said he understood totally that a Gaffer has his right to work where he is used to working. Next Day I got my chance to work with the Mistro. He was kind and gracious and we also worked at Over The Edge Glass together a few times after that. He's a wonderful Man and he understands that a Gaffer has earned his right to work where he wants in his own home studio. I've worked with other renound Glassblowers like Davide and Beth Lipman, Sonya Bloomdall but Lino was the greatest.

Martin Blank and team is making big clear Gobblety-Goooks right now. (Not sure if that is his official marketing name for them though)

I bet he'd be fun to work for, he seems pretty relaxed and down-to-earth, lots of dancing and hitting people with paddles.

I just tuned in time to see Martin spank one of his assistants with a paddle. I wonder if he's aware how prominent the bald spot looks on the webcam?

Methinks someone's jealous of someone else getting spanked! ;)

I was watching Lino make something at the studio in corning and there was a kid who had a balloon.. lino had just puntied up his piece and was trimming the lip and the kid's balloon popped...Lino freaked out and thought it was his piece then turned around and gave the kid the evil eye.

And starting today, Fritz Driesbach will be there making "Mongos" with Rob Adamson. That should be quite a switch.

I was able to see a grey long hair man and some others making cane. Unfortunately I have to also work away from my desk so when I got home in the evening I saw a blank screen. Do they blank out parts of the video? and Who is who Fritz??? Adam.

Ben Cobb who is works at the museum grew up 2 blocks away from me in Rhode Island.. I must say I am proud of him for where he has ended up. :)

I'm begining to think that on an unconcious level we put our emotional disposition into whatever piece we are making. Maybe Lino's gracious disposition get's captured, and so we are further drawn to his work. So maybe we should not yell at our assistants. Maybe this yelling/proper way model is a function of the 80's mentality combined with italitian factory mentality and because we were so uneducated about glass at the time that we just took this to be truth. From observations at GAS conference it seems like this is changing. Better late than never.

Happy glass!!!

I like Fritz, I just had the chance to make cups with him. It was awesome. It was super fun watching him put on handles. He's got quick hands. It's sweet how for the most part the founders/legends of this field are still roaming around.
