Moly element cracks at taper

Is it normal for moly elements still in packaging to have a visible hair line crack at the start of the taper?

a crack is when the small part and the large part are no longer joined. If there is a visible line but they are still in one piece that is "normal" in my experience.

Let it be, there has to be a weld joint. Obsessing about it will only cause you ulcers. Every heater has these and I have gone through thousands now.
