I've got a super funky (but shweet) little shop that I'm firing up and opening up to the public today. Cruise on over if you wanna check it out and lay on my couch and drink water. I think I have some asprin somewhere too.
GAS conference was a mind bender no? great conference
call me @971.563.1174 if you wanna come over and I'll give you my address.
I'm five minutes north of downtown by car and you can actually max it here pretty easily.

Thanks Ken, I'm already home resting up from the conference. Glass overload!! It was great. Next year at Corning we need stickers to put on our badges so we can put faces with the names, yes?:wave:

Was there, met John Riepma and John Teeter - they both found me. Of course Pete, Steve and Brent.
Much better conference than the Pitt. Missed you Franklin and Tom.

Saving up for next year. I hope it will be in Corning studio, the one where Jay works. Did they announce the next venue as yet?

I don't work there any more Franklin. I can never go back. I'm weighing my options for my own studio right now. I don't know what I'll be like after surgery so I can't really say. Gas at Corning will probably not be as good as Portland because Corning Inc will undoubtedly F**K It UP. Just like everything else. I hope not but that's my personal opinion. I'll probably be in Alabama. I'm leaving for Enterprise Aug. 27th to scout for property for a studio and to see my new Granddaughter Emily.

I was amazed to hear from David Levy that they wouldn't let you on the blowing floor Jay. How many decades were you there?

Jay your always welcome to come down to Pensacola and get a session in at my shop to test out the waters.
Keep in mind I have just the basics. Small furnace, small glory, and small annealer but it is a shop and it works. As and added bonus I have a fridge full of beer, diet coke, and all the chips and salsa you can put in your body.
Cheers,
Scott.

I was there for 27 years and I worked Pyrex for another 9 years at Main Plant. They really appreciate their glassblowers don't they?

Thanks Scott, I told my daughter today that I have to rent a car while I'm down there so I could come visit you and also drive to Gainsville. She said well Dad, I'm looking to buy a new car today so you can use that. I said what car? She said a Nissan Xterra. I love SUVs. I told her I'd rather use their Mustang. She said No Problem. I'll be down there for two weeks. I got Plane tickets for $98.00 round trip from Rochester,Ny to Pennsacola and she's picking me up at the airport and driving the 102 miles back to Enterprise. I'll settle in then drive down. I could use a cell# if you have one. Be advised that I haven't turned a pipe in almost a year so I'll be rusty as hell. Ask Brian Gingris how rusty I was when I made THE GRAVY BOAT at the shop he built in Naples Ny. I still can't believe that thing sold. Come to think of it I never got paid for it. That Dude that ran the place owes me $12.00 Hmmmmm.

No worries I worked for the first time last night in about 3 weeks due to the day job going batshit crazy. Everything hit the floor as nuggets don't like being cooked in a pot at 1700 for that long. At least that is what I am telling myself.
Seeing how you will be driving right by one of my favorite burger joints on earth you should stop in and get a real taste of well...ummm...I say this with all the love in the world. Redneck cook'n. This place has the best burger with damn near coldest beer I have ever had. It is true blue hole in the wall but it is right off I-10 on your way out of Pensacola.
Oval Office Pub & Grub(Oval as in track, not POTUS)
2790 Avalon Blvd
Milton, Fl 32583
Seeing how you will be hitting I-10 to Enterprise over the bay you could hit it from the interstate with a golfball and a well placed 3 iron. Do a Google maps search for "pensacola airport" to "enterprise" then do one for "Oval Office Pub & Grub Milton". You more or less have to drive over it. Have a safe trip.
I will IM you a cell, I don't need it floating around in the tubes.

Just so everyone knows Brian. That studio was one of the nicest I had ever worked in. Small but very functional. I wished I could have bought the equipment you built. It was fantastic especially the furnace and gloryhole. I really liked that annealer too. I just didn't have the cash on hand at the time. Hard to believe that furnace was the same size as mine. That thing was built like a tank. They failed because they were Idiots. They thought they were going to become millionares over night. Not in this business. Oh by the way. I saw the surgeon today. I have to have TWO back operations. Corning will pay for this one. DEARLY!
