leaving at 4am to NC. from boston area the route we will take south is 290 to 90 to 84 to 81 to 77. we will travel straight thru on the trip there, but on the way home we plan the blue ridge and maybe search out the largest ball of string and such.
soooo..whos not too far off the beaten path and is up for a studio visit?? i will have my family and we will pretty much just pop in and out to say hi. it would be fun to meet some of you.
i will check in from the road when i can.
thanks

We are at the intersection of 64 and 81 ten miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway. Come visit, I'll be leaving for Philly this Thursday, but we'll be open. Barge in and ask to blow something if you'd like.

About ten miles from Penland and less to the Parkway. I will also be going to Philly but you are welcome. Just ask around at Penland.

well that was fun! thanks doug for being so nice and showing us around. i must admit i had no idea you were such a copper freak. guess it takes one to know one! all that copper and you dont even need to strip it-i am just a *little* jealous. very nice gallery as well. worth the trip!!! i will contact you about the jewelry. wish i had more time to hang out and make something.

and kenny - went to penland - asked around - and just ran out of time to go and hunt you down. i did get to see your work at the gallery - WOW!! i was humbled in an instant. the work of george bucquet was pretty impressive as well. then the gallery lady pointed us to the glass studio and said we could go and peek in the windows, but we would NOT be allowed to go inside. good enough for me. so off we went and the first person we saw yelled "COME ON IN!!!" - yes, dog and all - next time your teaching at penland i would love to take your class. wish i had more time to get to your studio.

what a beautiful area. and who knew that spruce pine was "the mineral city"?not me!! i love rocks and crystals and had to DRIVE BY the mineral shows that were going on to get to penland. i felt like the dog drooling out an open window. wish i had more time.....
