Hi everyone,

I have just returned to the US after an eight-month stay in Africa. I am on the West Coast right now (the Bay Area to be exact), but I'm hoping to find work in Portland or Seattle. I have worked for several shops in Seattle and LA. I am a decent glass blower (almost good enough to gaff), a great assistant and excellent cold worker. If you, or someone you know, is looking for a cold worker and/or assistant let me know. I will PM with more info or can email my resume and cv and pics of my work. Thanks.

Greg

I'm always accepting resumes for Manifesto in Seattle. You can email your info to resolute@drizzle.com and I can take a look. We're constantly keeping our eyes open for new coldworkers and glassblowers.

Hello again everyone,

I'm just putting the word out that I still need a job. I know that times are tough for everyone right now, so I'm not surprised that I'm not finding much.

My wife and I have decided to relocate to Portland. I've pretty much exhausted all possibilities for glass studios in the area (at least ones that have listings in the yellow pages).

I haven't had any luck finding teaching gigs at colleges in the area either.

I know most people have need for help on a temp basis (which I plan to keep as an option once I'm settled), but I need F/T employment (pref with benes.- I know, tall order)

As I said before, I'm an excellent coldworker (more than just grinding punties), and know my way around a glassblowing studio. I'm also a metalworker/fabricator (MIG, TIG, stick and oxy/acetylene), and am an expert at metal finishing (polishing, texturing, applying patinas).

Yes, I'm a college boy, but don't let that scare you. I have a lot of experience in the real world and a strong work ethic.

Once I get settled in Portland I look forward to meeting more of you folks in the area (met John Teeter @ Elements a couple weeks ago).

Thanks in advance for any help,

Greg

Have you checked at Bullseye or Uroboros?

Gave up on the glass scene in the ol' Upper Volta, eh?

Did you check with Esque Studio in North Portland already? If on your search, you find some local work more compatible for somebody with less experience than yourself, please let me know...

So did you leave a job in Africa for one of us? Spent some time there and want to go back. My job search is always broad. On the road again.

No, actually. There is no "glass scene" in "the ol' Upper Volta." My wife and I had to return to the States early because a dear friend/family member has cancer.

No, but thank you. I will look into it.

What is it that you are interested in? What are your skills? If I find anything I will be happy to let you know.

No. I accompanied my wife in Burkina Faso while she was doing field research for her dissertation in Art History at UCLA. It was planned as a nine month stay, but got cut short by about six weeks due to a family emergency.

Its a shame you're not here in Western Australia - we could certainly use someone with your skills.

Best of luck.

I will.

Agreed. I just got back in town Friday after spending a week in the Bay Area visiting friends and family. Just focusing right now on finding a place to live. Then gotta figure out how to get all of our stuff from Cali up here. Once I get settled I'll be making rounds and doing the meet 'n greet.

I'd be interested in west oz also. I'm a life long surfer, and your neck of world goes freakin ballistic! One of the best swell zones in the world. It's fun to entertain the idea.
