Ok here at the theme park we are in need of a new furnace. Of coarse I opted for a 300 lb Stadelman unit. Even though our other park in Branson bought 3 of these a little over a year ago and are thrilled with them im asked to get some references.
Todd Nelson this includes you too.. Big business does lots of odd things I guess in the name of job safety. So everyone if you have time type a few lines about what you like best and least and how long you have used one of these gems. Thanks to everyone Joe

Joe,

There are numerous customer testimonials on www.stadelmanglass.com.

Here is mine from the site, it still rings true...

I used a 400-lb gas-fired day tank before buying a furnace from Steve Stadelman.
What attracted me to Steve's furnaces was ease of use, cost savings, quiet oper-
ation, and less exposure to heat when gathering. I go through 400-500 pounds
of glass each week and charge Spruce Pine twice a week.

Steve knows his stuff. The idea that you could hire Steve to come down and,
within a weekend, have a working furnace is great. The Moly furnace is a big
change from my 20 years of gathering from gas-fired furnaces. My studio is
quiet when I close down for the night. I also enjoy saving hundreds of dollars
each month on energy costs. The savings really do add up!

Perhaps the best thing about Steve's installation is that you learn how to install
elements, troubleshoot, and perform general maintenance. Steve puts out a
great product and stands behind it.

Another...

As a guy who has built his own successful electric furnaces for 20 years, I am switching to a Stadelman for my next furnace...

I have built every furnace I have used over the last 39 years. That includes a Moly. I think that Steve will build it better. I am having Steve build me a three pot furnace and am genuinely looking forward to its arrival later this month.

I find the processing that Steve uses to be sound. He is impeccably honest and actually understands electricity at a level I do not comprehend. Lastly, he worked with me in the yard to design the furnace so that it would work the way that I wanted it to, not the way that he insisted on building it. Any other electric furnace manufacturer is simply playing catch up in a losing battle.

He also uses the single best crucible now available on the market,.... um ... High Temp Crucibles, which I have to admit is my personal project.

As a weird personal reference from living here in town:

I think that deep down Steve is a good person just trying to make it in life just like you and me. His work staff is good crew, good friends, and they do good work. The furnace is a nice fuel efficient design. He may be kinda weird like me though too. I haven't figured it out yet. Is Steve weird?

Ummmm Joe, Cutting Edge makes hand tools, Stadelman makes furnaces! ;);):)

Has anyone mentioned UL Listing? I am under the impression that Steve has this, and very few [None?] others do.

Mark you totally hosed my joke dude. I think he meant it in cutting-edge (design), not Cutting Edge (tm).

Joe--you don't need to look far for people who love Steve's furnaces. I work out of one all the time and it's a pleasure. I wouldn't describe Steve as weird, but that hat... ;)

Jim is correct and it is an important detail. Steve is the Only furnace manufacturer that is UL listed. That is critical to insurance agencies and other bottom feeders.

As to the hat, I don't think he wears it anymore. I would love to see the buzz cut grow out.

Joe; Do you want me to send you something that management will go for or?? I haven't had any down time since I started mine up 4/13/2007. I think I talked to Jesse about these but I'll be happy to ring him up again!

Todd, if you have had no downtime since april 07, your pot is getting along in age.

I see the force runs strong in you micheal. The question is not of recommendation but of........ foundation. Perhaps a riddle......the rock that stands behind it is of cutting edge technology. The water that stands next to it is still. The woman is looking but where? It looks but cannot see cause it has no eyes. What is it?

My experience with Stadelman has been nothing less than exceptional. We powered our 100# unit up on 1/1/2006 and it remained on until this spring when the crucible finally gave out. (27 months of trouble free operation)
Not only is this a high quality machine, it is likely the most efficient on the market today.

You're right Pete. They are getting along in age but with 3 -300# furnaces the charging cycle is a bit longer. I'll be ordering a couple of new crucibles soon. I'm pretty sure these will get us into cooler weather and I'm looking for a November change out. I've been REAL satisfied with both the pots and the melters. It's a pleasure to show up in the morning and not be afraid of find your furnace being down! My life has certainly been easier! The glass quality is remarkably improved also...no seed, stone and the clarity is great!

We are trying to always keep five of each crucible in inventory instead of having a backlog, so we should be ready. The new pots out of High Temp look absolutely perfect. The one at Josh's place showed no wear at all when we looked at it two weeks back.

We did have our website hacked and are in the process of rebuilding it so it's best to simply call right now. 603-323-7900.

Ken -- what ever you are eat/drinking/smoking, I'd like to have some!!!

But seriously:

There are no sunglasses being sold anywhere that I'm aware of that are "safe" for working hot glass. Sunglasses, especially those made of plastic or polycarbonate, are excellent at blocking UV and visible light, however they vastly SUCK at blocking IR, which is the chief hazard when working hot glass.

Micheal, If you want a really good laugh go to the pipe cooler section while considering that I broke my frames on a pair of glasses you had made about 2 years ago but I haven't gotten around to fixing them yet cause "I don't have enough time or money". I'm ridiculous. I like your glasses. I was thinking about approaching the problem like this

-get lenses on face somehow? maybe some tape........

Is somebody really putting a furnace in an "theme" park?

what's the theme of the park?

I just watched the hobbit if this explains everything?

Steve Stadelman

I very much appreciate the nice feedback from everyone.

Ken, you would be surprised how many theme parks have glassblowing as part of the whole thing. Disney did in the wayback, so did Knotts berry farm.

And if you want to be general about it, what is anyone with a public studio/gallery? A theme park...........the theme is glassblowing.

I heard Disney once again has a hotshop. Somewhere in the magic kingdom. Last time around they had one in epcot in the Italy part of the world but it didn't last long. Anyone seen it yet?

Oh and BTW: Steve's moly melters are the undisputed best around. The tec support has to be worth as much as the equipment.

They do and if you want I can get you a picture.

It is inside and is an Electroglass glory and furnace just like the ones we have down at the Belmont here in Pensacola.

The ones they have are painted black but other than that the exact same piece of equipment just in much better shape.

At times, my studio seems to run more like a zoo.
