Hi,
I've been the lucky recipient of an un-expected gift that is overwhelming in scope ... I've gotta share this with others.
A friend put me in touch with the new owner of an existing shop/warehouse. He's faced with a bit of a dilema (sp?) as a result of his purchase. The previous owner had until midnight last night to remove any existing inventory from the bldg or it would default to the new owner.
The previous owner (the seller) used to be involved in the wholesale manufacturing of aquariums. As a resulot, half of the inside of this bldg (and the outside rear ... and the 40' flat-bed in the lot) is filled glass ... a whole lotta glass ... somewhere in the 40-50 ton range. The new owner has informed me (along with others) that effective 9:00am tomorrow morning (March 16) I'll be able to peruse the mountain of glass and "cull" any wanted pieces.
This glass ranges from almost any type/colour/thickness/plain/bevelled/dimension owuld be used in the aquarium world. Some of it is tempered ... some not, some is coloured, some is textured. The sizes range from 1' x 5' (1/4" thk) to 10' x 12' x 1" (est.)
If there's anyone in the Calgary area who'd like some free glass send me a note and we'll try and arrange a schedule to meet this coming week. Sorry for the short notice on this. I've just been speaking with the new owner and verifying my interest IN SOME OF THE GLASS ... NOT ALL OF IT.
I'm going over tomorrow afternoon to begin "Shopping"
If you're near Calgary ... have an empty half-ton and would like as much glass as you can carry, PM me.
Cheers,
Charlie Gimble
PS. Be sure to bring a good pair of gloves, suction cups if you gottem and a rack to support your glass
