I've noticed a number of times now where I seem to have more restricted access to posts when I AM logged in than when I'm NOT.

It's happened a number of times before, but I thought I'd document the details this time.

In Jon Myers' post on his "little color kiln", if I view the posts when NOT logged in, there are 21 different responses (Jon's included) visible in my browser.

Once I log in (mainly to see the pictures), there are only 5 posts visible!!!

How in the world does that work?

Same thing on the "annealing floor" post - 13 total posts visible when logged in, 32 total posts when NOT logged in.

Is there something I'm doing wrong to view the posts? Is it possible that certain user's access is limited?

I have no idea. I'll inquire with Katie. It is the case that the "cords seeds etc board" is not available to the google spider and that board should not be visible to anyone not logged in.

that is the answer, by the way. The search spiders (more than google) are very aggressive with message boards and seem to pound away at them non-stop collecting up pages. Enormous bandwidth. In some cases we do not want every post out there in the world, but we do want some - so that new people can find CraftWEB.

So certain boards are only visible to logged in members and others are open to everyone and also show up in the search engines.
