Just noticed an article in "U.S. Glass" (March) suggesting price for sand could be affected. The same quarries that supply the glass industry are selling product for use in hydraulic fracturing. While the exact type of sand may have different property requirements (shape of beads vs. chemical makeup) the system (labor and transportation) is under demand and the gas producers are paying more as fracking sand is in "extremnely short supply right now". Wisconsin and Minnesota were mentioned.
