My 20 year old son, who has incredible hand skills is interning at Intel this summer and is leaving for the area next weekend. He has been making armor on the side and is seriously good at it. He is interested in taking lessons with a blacksmith while he's there. The kid is remarkably good. He will have a car.

He's also interested in making glass and has blown some. He has these really great hands. Incredibly smart. He doesn't drink and most of the interns at intel are at least three years older than he is . He's the youngest they've ever taken so social issues for him may get hard.

Any suggestions?

Pratt Fine Arts Center has really good classes - tell him to check out any classes by Marc Mullin or Mark Rudis - both excellent fabricators and artists who teach there. As for glass - is he looking to take classes in glass or just make stuff and play?

I worked with Lisa at a shop for awhile. I was going to offer to try and contact her for you Pete, but it sounds like you're in better hands.

I could always try some old glass folks as well.
