I Love Bomma But

I love Bomma very much but I do a lot of spot-torching and find Bomma is very sensitive to reducing. I use a Bernzomatic torch with MAPP gas. Has anyone used a good torch with oxy-gas or oxy-propane on Bomma and how is that working out?

Ditto. Hot torch doesn't "reduce", but there is a surface change. Sometimes you can see it if you're just finishing up a piece, but if you keep working it goes away.

Likely caused by antimony in the glass which doesn't exactly Brown up, but it does discolor. One of the things about torching is to avoid having the valence switch in the antimony from penta to mono valent as it suddenly gets a lot hotter. I think Shawn could be more expansive about how his fix works, and why.

I have found the same thing--Bomma doesn't love a super-hot flame. I thought the brown was burning the glass a bit. I've backed off the gas mix in my hot torch and that helps a lot.

If you're trying to torch a punty mark it shows, but if you manage to get it floppy again it goes away. Same if you gather over it. Don't have a why for you.
