At one point, we had a serious flood in the garage in Santa Fe and we filled a 55 gallon drum with water laced heavily with clorox and just dipped everything in it liberally electrical or not. Major rinse and changed the drum once.
It was remarkable how much of that stuff never mildewed and went on to work just fine when dried well.
