David: Pay close attention to Hugh and ignore Dennis Hetland if possible. Hugh spent more than a decade working out the oil issue since $5.25 per gal propane motivated him.
I visited his shop on the Big Island years back and was just amazed at what he was doing with discarded french fry oil. Those possibilities don't exist now and Hugh was buying new oil at Costco. Even so, it was economically feasible.. He does consult on how to do it and was making some of the components. I think he has retired from blowing glass at this point since he indicated to me that he was getting his last set of crucibles last year.
