You want a surface mix torch.

You can get away with a rose bud style premix for very quick operations but it's not a very flexible tool. It's really easy to burn the glass.

Tim Try the Nortel Ranger surface mix. from Wale Apparatus. It is the smallest of the surface mix torches.

Here is a look at some others and larger as well. http://www.friedmanglassworks.com/homepage/tools

I hope all is going well down under. Give my regards to the lovely Tally.

Tim I would like to add.. It depends on what size of punty you have.

After doing the GAS 2017 Norfolk conference as vendors. I did notice a bit of more interest in the National 7S surface mix torch. It has the ability to change tips sizes on the fly while working. From small as a ranger size and to the largest size equals the Mid- Range. With 2 med size tips as well. a lot of bang for the buck as they say. A most versatile torch. It's a dam good bead burner also.
