Eddie Bernard had one of those things at GAS back in Corning I think. I had exactly the same reaction Eben. I don't know if there ever was demand. Try to imagine if you slipped on the pneumatic foot switch and the door closed on a fairly hot piece.

Ed Branson came up with the coolest gloryhokendoor I have seen in a long time as far as being able to close it down easily. He has a pneumatic lollipop door against his retaining ring that has a 2 inch opening. Then outside of that he has a set of barn doors. Genius.

That does sound like a clever GH door setup. Do you know if he tends to run it so that the lollipop door re-closes when he's not actively taking a heat? Or just leaving that door open once the piece has gotten bigger than 2 inches and only using the barn doors.

I'd worry about losing too much heat from having the barn doors a few inches from the retaining ring with that setup, but if the pneumatic door re-closes when you're at the bench, it addresses that problem nicely.

They seem to love the aperture/iris doors in Europe. Great idea, but lots of potential issues if something goes wrong.

He closes the pneumatic door every time and leaves the barn doors open.

I didn't see how the doors were controlled.

I notice that he has to flip the piece 180 degrees every trip between bench and glory. And the bench looks like it folds up. Made of electrical conduit or something.
