Power consumption

Just curious how much power people use... always wondered how smaller furnaces run.

We run a Stadelman furnace 400lbs, melt Spruce Pine once a week and use around 9400KWH in 31 days. That is strictly the furnace.

On a side note electricity is around $.33 a KWH here.

Hard to tell unless you have separate meters. I think my AC takes as much power as my furnace! :O

I'm using an average of 7000 kwh an hour for my entire building, running a 230 lb Electroglass furnace, electric glory hole, 1 annealer, charging once every 3 weeks and blowing 2 days a week.

Shop closed, only electricity use is the furnace: 170 kwh per day.
Blowing day, all equipment and gallery lighting running: 370 kwh per day
Shop open, not blowing: 190 kwh per day.
Average cost: .23 per kwh.

Look at the entire bill, not just the KWH per hr. Currently, in NH my costs of power are lower than the delivery charge. Take the bottom line.
