Question Custom texture plates

Anyone out there 3d printing texture plates and getting them cast? If so are you doing it all yourself or are there places to get it done once you have a Cad file.

You can take PLA to Classic Foundry in Seattle. They weren't able to cast my optic molds, which can be a bit tricky, but I've heard of them having success with other projects for people.

I think you'll be hard-pressed to find an operation that will realize your finished object from just a CAD file. I'll bet there's someone, but it'll most likely cost an arm and a leg.

Most foundries will take models (waxes) you have fabricated yourself. You might have to give them specs. on the PLA for their burnout process (non-toxic, etc.). Some will insist on gating and spruing themselves.

Good luck finding someone. If you are lucky, please report back with your findings.

I was thinking about getting someone to do the 3d printing. Will report back.
