![]() Once upon a time, a company, possibly named Engelhard (sp?), sold a product, possibly named called "Thermoluster," in colors that may have included something called "Mother of Pearl."
Akin to Tetra-Butyl-Titanate, this stuff could be sprayed on finished ware prior to annealing and would create iridescent-like effects. After scouring the web, I cannot find a current source. The plan is to apply this, or something similar, to production, Raku-fired, ceramic field tile. Does anyone know of a current source for this or a similar product? |

Ten years ago, Engelhard got out of the marketing biz and got in bed with Reusche. Product should still be the same. Try them first.
You can try Duncan as well, but they're not "glass people."

You can fume with this stuff ?
I think the term fume is thrown around too loosely. Spraying stannous in my opinion isn't fuming, it's irridizing. Sticking a hot gather into a pile of stannous and letting it smoke up onto the piece is fuming. |

Some of us have called spraying stannous onto a piece "fuming" for 45 or more years now. We called putting stannous into a gob of hot glass "fuming" as well and did it because we didn't have a spray booth. Stannous certainly makes glass iridescent. I think the Iso titanates do a terrible job of irridizing.

I don't know if they still do, but W.R. Grace had it at one time.
