Casters for a small glory hole

Hi everyone, I am rearranging some of my equipment to make room for a small furnace. I don’t have a pallet jack or a fork lift to move my small GH. My idea was to disconnect the gas and air and tip the hole slightly to add casters to each side. Does anyone out there have a good suggestion for what type of casters would be best. I plan on keeping the GH on the casters permanently so I am looking for something tough.

I would use about a 300lb locking caster from Graingers or equivalent. McMaster Carr would have them as well. So would Home depot likely. If you get too light a weight caster with less than about a three inch wheel, it's likely to virtually go flat after some time. Plastic is OK. The locks on at least two of the casters make it reasonable to keep in one place.

If you don’t want to change the height of the glory hole and don’t want to move it very often you can slide it around with nylon plates such as nylon cutting boards.

This likely won't fit your application, but I have had great success with my octagonal top load kiln mounted on a 55 gal drum dolly. I think it's rated at 400lbs or so.

A note: Usually codes in earthquake prone locations will not allow wheels under furnaces or glory holes.

If you must keep it on rollers, to move more often. Then "crib it up proper" so that the wheels are off the floor.
