Electrical safety
My dog was running scared with the thunder and he inadvertently pulled the annealer plug loose from the supply Cord because I was careless and did not twist it to lock it. So the plug did not come out but was connected to the socket with a small space between the receptacle Face and the plug. The next roll of thunder the dog comes running again jumps on the annealer and slams the socket with the space into the lid lifting pulley cable . The breaker did not trip but the cable melted like a fuse. The chance of this happening is almost impossible. Lesson learnt. Follow the code.
So I am redoing the wiring and noted that the 240v supply to the annealer is being switched on and off by an ssr in one leg of the Line only. So the other leg is live (120v) . I have a contactor on the 240v supply so when I shut down it disconnects the l1 and l2 . Do you all use two ssr’s one on each line or one only on any line.? Franklin |

Animals in the studio is a bit of a risk. Some training required. And som more training needed to blow glass

I had a lot of MacCaws and a cockatoo in the Santa Fe shop and everyone wanted out of their cages during the day. The Cockatoo liked to sit on the door into the main hallway which would have been OK ex ept that it gave her access to wiring above that door. She chewed on it and finally bare wires were sticking out. She would grab that and hang on.
She liked it. Given that she had hollow bones, she did not have a good ground either which kept her from getting killed. She certainly got a big buzz though. We finally covered the wiring with a piece of Angle Iron so she couldn't do that anymore. She was irritated to no end. The other birds had better common sense. Mark Peiser had infra red to open and close furnace doors if you broke the beam walking. His dog was not viewed as helpful with that and couldn't go in the studio anymore.
