What are some techniques when using metal foils?

Foil
Sorry not being specific. I want to use the foil as a surface decoration on the outside of vases, paperweights.

Paperweights will generically be fine, but foil on blown can be funky. It can make things stiff an blow out weird. Leaf works a little better, but disappears easy when stretched. Copper can be difficult to get the nice reds without burning out, silver and gold are pretty straight forward. Vacuum tables make things much easier. I'm sure it costs a small fortune, but Rik Allen does an application by hand on the exterior of his rockets that is freaking gorgeous.
