8 inch lap grinders

Looking for thoughts on an 8 inch lap grinder just to do flat bottoms. Looking at the cup based one from His or the Hi-Tech. Need something that is portable and doesn't take a lot of space. Any thoughts.

when I first started out, I took a 12" disc grinder and mounted it flat to make a lap. $200 vs $2000. It took some fiddling but worked really well.

I still to this day use one in the original way. The backing plates are usually aluminum so I siliconed on a 12" saw blade. Sound sketchy but i've used that one for over 12 years and still works great.
