spodumene

I am thinking of changing my recipe since Lithium Carb. is now $14.95 a lb.I have access to 1000 lb of spodumene . It does not show the Fraction or reciprocal in Glass Notes, does anyone know where I can find the info to sub spodumene for 1.25 lbs of Litium Carb.

Spodumene is a typical feldspar. If you go the pages in glassnotes which give out the percents, just plug in lithium where it indicates either sodium or potassium. Something like 13-14%. John Croucher did have me using a 4.90 expansion coefficient for the lithium. As is often the case, the downside is tramp iron in your formula.

You need to account for the silica and the alumina in the spar. Without looking it up, it seems to me the silica is about 67% and the alumina 17%
