Actually, I think they are trying a video teleconference GAS. It's hard for such an organization since the only thing it really does is to organize conferences. There's not money for deep losses of registrations. I don't see this being solved until there's a vaccine and by that time, the finances of conference goers will be really skimpy.

Planning for next year would already be well under way and GAS puts the onus on the host city for much of the infrastructure. I don't think cities have spare cash these days.

Tight times ahead.

Here's the link to the virtual conference page. They'll be posting up the workshop/demonstration videos on a rolling basis over the next couple days.

Does anyone know if CMOG's hotshop on board the Celebrity Eclipse was running when all hell broke loose? If so, any word on the three who would have been manning it? The other hot glass ship, the Celebrity Equinox, was safely docked in San Diego.

The main link didn't work but I did go view the auctions which was not inspiring going here:
https://www.32auctions.com/GAS2020

It was in my email so it may or may not fly.

If it doesn't work, why am I not surprised.

It's a sucker bet, but I'll wager it'll be in Seattle next year.

For me, certainly. I'll be in my two car garage. No virtual stuff either. Watching everyone around me scramble to deliver college courses via virtual classrooms is enough to put me off the idea.

And speaking of "recession-proof" jobs now's a great time to be an IT person.

Rich,
CMOG got out the cruise ship business a couple of years ago and their demos were replaced by a make-your-own program run by Brenna Baker/Hollywood Hot Glass: https://www.celebritycruises.com/gb/...ities/hotglass. Some of the CMOG employees migrated back to Corning to staff their demo stages there. Don't know who stayed on.

Thanks, Scott. I thought CMOG was still running things because a friend sent me this link. (She was worried I might have friends quarantined on one of the ships.) If you just look at the page without reading into the text, one can easily assume CMOG is promoting an ongoing program. It must be a popular feature, as it's been expanded to three ships.

I would not want to be a person signing up for a hot glass demo cruise during the pandemic.

The thrill: "Transform shapeless blobs of glass into exciting art"

It just happens right in front of you...
