I reject about fifty percent of the applications because they either use a meme sort of name, or run their first and last names together, (which I can correct) , try to register as a studio, or are actually trolling the board , joining to try to harvest emails. It's remarkable. What is more interesting is that when I do reject them, it's rare that they come back and try again.

There are around 850 members and about an equal number of lurkers. The lurkers always outnumber the members at any time by about 15 to 1. What interests me is that I can go see what everyone is looking at. The archives are really heavily used. I hope to use them someday for a new book on studio operations. There's a tremendous amount of good material there.

Pete, is there a way for me to change one of the two websites I have listed in my profile here? I don't seem to be able to be given an option to do that like I must have been when I first signed up. Thanks.

You should be able to simply go to your registration as "user control panel" a little "CP in the upper left corner of the sign in page and when you view the page, there is a scroll down on the right . Open that and go down to "edit user profile". Click that and it should take you to to a page with four choices in the middle of the page. Go to "About Me" which is where I think you have the material. It's all the way at the bottom. Let me know if that fails.

You can search several ways and usually come up disappointed.
First: type in a word like "pyrolisis" in the empty box. You can now have several choices 1st in the thread leader post on the left and on the right any responses using the term you're looking for. The word has to exist somewhere to trigger the search.
If you are drilling down for a specific, go to "Advanced Search and follow the potential prompts. They can include such things as date, author, length, blah blah blah..

Some years of the archives were lost sadly but I am amazed at how much has been retained over these 15 years. As I said, It's likely I'll put together a practical problem solving book using the archives if I don't kick off first. Katie has given me permission to do it which I needed. That of course will be the companion book to the one on batch. Now that the comic book collection has been sold ( and Amazing fantasy 15 went big time, but I kept all my Thor) I can think about other things.

You could create move the body of knowledge to a wiki or under archive.org.

It's Katie's baliwick and I don't hear much from her lately so I can't say. I might like to talk to you about process. We haven't archived in any managed way for quite a few years now. No one's getting any younger.
