INFO: CraftWEB Sponsorship Information

CraftWEB has established these hot glass discussion boards for the benefit of the hot glass community at large. There are many very talented and experience members networking and discussing critical topics facing hot glass professionals.

We decided, when setting up these boards, to remove the distracting banner advertising on the boards, which was the only source of revenue to cover costs. We decided to rely upon the members and industry companies to sponsor the valuable effort and quality technical information provided within these boards.

We want to keep access to this information - for both hot glass newbies and experienced professionals - FREE. The success of this will depend upon the voluntary input of monetary contributions from the members and sponsorships from industry companies. We hope all the members will agree this is a valuable resource worth supporting and making sure its here for the long haul.

OPTION 1.
Companies, Groups, or Individuals can decide to support these Hot Glass boards on a Guardian Sponsorship level. Guardian Sponsors get a special title next to their name (so the community knows they are a special supporter of the community) and one post (which will be at or very near to the top of the General Discussion Board, as a "sticky" post, which can also be updated as needed throughout the Guardian Sponsorship year), where they can share information about their services and/or products - its a place where the Guardian Sponsor can have an informational text advertisement or post whatever they feel is appropriate (besides pitching products, this post - for groups or individuals - might include information on an association events, or promotion of an individual gallery or co-op group of artisans, etc.). Cost: $500 per year

OPTION 2.
This community is about the members so Individuals can also contribute to help keep this board alive (and free) with small Individual Sponsor contributions:

[ ] $25 per year
[ ] $50 per year
[ ] $100 per year
[ ] other: based upon what you feel comfortable with in helping the long-term survival of the board.

Individual contributors will be credited publicly, just like your Public TV station does. Our bank of operators is sort of standing by.

Think about the value of how the people and the information here helps you and contribute your support! You will also be helping to keep the boards free of distracting and unrelated banner ads, pop-up ads, etc.

Contribution checks should be made out to:
Kathleen McMahon

and sent to:
Kathleen McMahon
1450 Chestnut Street, Suite 102
San Francisco, CA 94123
Attn: CraftWEB Sponsorship

(please include a little note with your contribution to let us know your name, email, and what level sponsorship you are contributing. We will want to coordinate with Guardian Sponsors so they can post their sponsor ad in the General Discussion Board.)

Please feel free to email me if you have any questions. Enjoy the boards!

Brian,

Thank you SO much for being a part of the CraftWEB community!

That is an interesting question. If you are unable to send the money in U.S. dollars, I can't see why I can't have the bank at this end deal with doing the exchange.

Maybe online Paypal is an option. They accept international payments, but charge me at about 4% of the amount for the right to receive the money (it's 3% when its within the United States). But that might be an option, too.

My Paypal account is: katiemoe {[[at]]} hotmail . com

Whatever you decide, I'll figure it out at this end. Again - THANK YOU for your support.

KatieMoe

I will ask MaryBeth if we can use our VISA MC accounts at the gallery and simply forward checks for the amounts ( with credit!) to Katie.

I build Websites for glassblowers and others to help pay for the development of my own studio. For the next six months, starting today, I will contribute to CraftWeb 5% of what I make from each Website I design for new clients. Each time a site for a new client is paid for in full, I will mail a check that reflects 5% of the total cost of the site's design directly to katiemoe. Simple enough.

So if you need a Website and would like to help CraftWeb at the same time, I encourage you to contact me. I've designed sites for some of our members, and a couple are currently in the works. Send me a private message to receive a list of links to my work.

Thanks for your time and consideration.

- Ben

Yes, definitely. It is the same paypal account: katiemoe {{at}} hotmail dot com

just keep in mind that paypal will eat 3% of the amount in fees for domestic transactions and 4% for international.

But it is an option for you.

Ben,

Thank you SO much for keeping us in mind and including us in your program. Hopefully some people will take advantage of it, but in any event, thanks so much for the very thoughtful gesture!

When the site went down I realized how much I enjoy this site. Just wanted to bump the message up again so everyone gets a fresh reminder this is not free to them. Both time and money.

Check your paypal Katie and thank you both for giving us a place to hang out and share information.

Scott.

OK - so what ARE the current options for an overseas donation?

If I can get someone to cut an American check, where to send it?

It's easiest to send to Katie via Paypal but checks can be mailed to her Chestnut street Address in San Francisco, which I think is listed here somewhere.

Credit cards

I can send a check but credit cards are much more convenient --- any way to send the donation via credit card?

I would have to ask Katie and I haven't spoken with her in quite some time. She does cash checks if you send them to her so I'm sure she's alive.

Thank you for anyone who would like to contribute financially to the upkeep of CraftWEB. It is always deeply appreciated.

If you'd like, you can contribute a donation via my paypal (katiemoe at hotmail dot com) or you can mail a check to:

Kathleen McMahon
1450 Chestnut Street #102
San Francisco, CA 94123

I'm so pleased to have been able to provide this space for all of you to connect, converse, and become better glass professionals. I love how long we've been around! I expect to continue to do it until I am no more ... or the internet ends or something catastrophic like that (smile).

But really, its a joy to see that this serves a great purpose and has value. Thanks to all of you for being a part of this. Love it.
