So sorry that you are haing a hard time with the business. I hope your lawyers prevail, although I believe as soon as lawyers are involved they are the ones that come out ahead.
Good luck to you

Thank you everyone. The absolute best solution in a very crappy situation was achieved today. A local glass artist has agreed to buy the remaining equipment and sign a lease in the same location so the studio will continue onward! Thanks to everyone for reaching out and sorry I couldn't accomodate all of your needs but I love this community. Also Pete I am going to be putting the new owner in touch with you. The thieves took off with my replacement elements and pot so he will need to order both asap. I feel that running a furnace without replacements is inviting disaster.

I remember when seeing another glassworker happened about every three years. Times change. Families grow. I wish you the best although we've never met and I'm reasonably sure that Karma finds a way and this will leave you a wiser person. Craftweb is a really significant place.

For the rest of you, Don't carry the loan.

It should not be guilt by association. I would suggest that this information is appropriate to Barb potentially but otherwise, not so much. I encourage barb to acquire these links and then let me know and I'll delete them

Sorry this chain of events is the defining mark at the end of your transition. That really is a hard blow to absorb.

I have hired this guy named Scaramucci to represent the immediate interests of Louis L Legbreaker in this matter. He would like the donation of an aluminum baseball bat from a concerned citizen.

It will be interesting to see where the thieves try selling the elements and pot...this is a very small community....

Thanks, Pete. I totally understand. I think it would be interesting for Barb to simply confirm their claim to have "studied under" them. I used to see local artists putting similar claims on their resumes when their "studied under" translated to "watched a Lino demo" or "brought Dante a punty."

I like the way the Brits say "aluminum."

It appears that Pete is on top of things with the comments in this thread, but I'll just throw out a cautionary tale that involves legal disputes and online discourse. About ten years ago I joined a forum devoted to a musical group. It was the first online community I ever joined. One member was embroiled in a legal dispute with one of the artists still involved with said musical group. This is a semi-famous artist (has some representation in the RRHOF) with a well-established history of litigation, so they boast better legal representation than the average Joe. The forum member was a visual artist that was working on an animation project with the groups manager that involved themes related to groups image. He claimed the manager was stiffing him on royalties, and stole his intellectual property. He began an online tirade against the manager, and the groups "leader." He even created a MySpace page devoted to a new body of work that made homophobic, and other derogatory statements about the plaintiff's characters. It was kind of funny, but totally inappropriate. More funny in a train wreck sort of way.

The guy got squashed in court, and was even sued for slander. He had to remove all traces of his artwork, and statements made online that had anything to do with the artist(s) in question. Not just the artwork in question, but EVERYTHING. He was literally persona non grata in all circles.

The admins of the forum in question banned the user, and had to scrub the entire site of the member's posts. Thousands of posts. The only remaining trace of this person's existence on said forum was a public apology that was stickied, and locked. This was not the site's choice, this was court-ordered. Any members that asked "what happened" or those in-the-know that made jokes about it would be immediately shut down. This was a forum that allowed members to join using a nickname, so you could fly under the radar. CW uses legal names.

IMHO I think making veiled threats about violence against any of the principles involved is this (even jokingly) is probably unwise.

Just sayin'

I am not trying to see anything telegraphed at this point. Lots of people in that part of the world read this site. Between the members and the lurkers, there are about 1500 of them. At any time it's normal to have 200 on the board, mostly lurking. I have the controls to see what they're reading as well.
I continue to wish Barb the best and I genuinely appreciate those of you who have kicked in on her go fund me.

But I will issue this caution: Don't sell anything and carry the loan.

Long and short of it is, if they don't have the cash to buy or have a bank that will finance them and give them the cash, don't sell. Selling studios in today's world is very difficult. Selling any small business today is not easy and requires the help of some good legal advice.
Selling property of any type should be done very cautiously. If you expect a financial institution to finance the sale you better have lots of extremely good documentation.

These people are sociopaths - they continually lie directly to your face and make claims that are totally false. Here's an example which my lawyer was very excited to see so he could tack on defamation and libel charges to the lawsuit. Although I am in my 50's I am still stunned to learn how wicked some people can be

Aren't those your photos that they are using on their site and gofundme page? Any way to block those?....I don't think that they are going to get much more money from that page. They haven't had a donation in 3 weeks and are waaaaay from their goal.

From what I recall the sale of the business was lock, stock, and barrel; including designs, and promotional media. I believe part of the agreement also was that the new owners would continue to supply distributors with inventory as long as requested.

I got involved with working for a sociopath/narcissist a few years ago....whoa. Now the moment anyone shows those kind of traits to me, I eliminate them from my life and business. It's a liability.

Mark they are my pictures but Greg is correct in that the sale of the studio included the sale of the business, all designs, marketing materials and pictures. But it still is rather hilarious that they are begging for money using my artwork and pictures to do so.....
And Eben, until now I have been fortunate to not have had to deal with sociopaths in my life but I am now better educated and could probably spot these kinds of people miles away. Steer clear for your own safety

Ask your lawyer but when they defaulted the property probably went back to you.
