Cylinder molds
Are there any other mold suppliers for wooden molds than Blockhead? Thanks much.

^ That's the shop of Gary Guydosh, who learned his moldmaking from Walter Evans. I've never met him or seen one of his molds directly, but have been told that he makes good tools. |

Any decent woodworker with a lathe should be able to help you. Garys molds are odd..closed bottoms and very few vents

A pasted and corked length of black pipe or steel tubing of appropriate size works a treat. Use it wet.
You can weld a flange to the bottom for stability and stuff. Do drill vent holes in it before you paste and cork it. MANY reps before recorking. And that is not what you asked about at all. Cheers. BSD

His site says to give him a call, it might be very long distance.
Pete- do you know if anyone took over from him? |

I do not know.
Googling Graphite cylinder molds yields up a lot of sources if you like graphite.

Last time I checked in they said he passed and weren't taking orders. That was a few years ago.

Art Reed does good work on a wood lathe, I have some of his round blocks and they are very nice. He has a website with contact info you can find with a quick search.

Art Reed is one of my favorite glass people in the world.
The sweetwater line of Jersey style glass was the single best I've ever seen.

Many thanks folks. Will reach out. I had someone around me that used to do them but doesn't anymore, he was great and about 60% of the other folks.

so if he was that much cheaper, it might be a lot of why he doesn't do them anymore. You get what you pay for frequently.

No it was because his wife wanted him to redo their house and that has turned in to a multi year project.
