That amazed me too. Here where I live I believe the town is adding crushed bottle glass to the road sand in the winter.

That was fairly informative thanks for sharing that video. I have for the most part considered glass recycling to be a negative with costs of trucking, cleaning and sorting. I considered reuse being the only responsible way of recycling of glass. I like to think they are figuring it out and turning glass recycling into something that is a more viable option to offset the cost of trucking and processing. I know a lot of the glass recycling that is done is just being stored in huge pits in the ground waiting for better options.

Glass is amorphous silica (non-crystalline) and apart from being a little irritating, it is safe to breathe. The amount of exposure will determine how irritating. It's the crystalline silicas that are of concern. Fiberglass is an amorphous solid the same as fiber frax. In order to induce crystallization fibers must be heated to temperatures above 2,000f for long periods of time.

In NJ near the big glass plants they would mix scrap in with the black top, made it sparkle.
