cold digitry

My studio got really cold last night and the digitry was reading 32į. I forgot that if it reads that temp, it won't allow the elements to turn on and used a torch on the thermocouple to fool it.

I hope that others don't have this problem and go through a wild goose chase of problem solving.

Digitry aside, Colloidal silica and alumina are ruined if frozen. Not to mention the water pipes. We've gone to -29F three nights in a row up here on top of multiple days at -15F or so says accuweather and I'm running a burner in the gloryhole to keep things livable while we rebuild this little furnace. We're going through a lot of firewood.

Many controllers use a thermocouple within the instrument case as a reference. I had several installs in cold states that needed a light bulb inside the enclosure to start.

The hot water heater still comes from firewood but it's amazing what a 60W light bulb can do in a tent. I mortared yesterday, tented the mess and pushed the furnace over to the glory hole. About 55F in the tent this morning and that's what I needed. Today was more of a horse day and I have to plow out about 1/3 mile to the firewood for a friend who is out, so, that's a day easy. There's 15 cords out there . The truck is showing its age and I don't want a new truck at my age. All this damn salt. I wouldn't mind a second tractor though.

I have to disagree with that statement. But maybe Iím an exception as I pretty much grew up on boats.
